The Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) Laboratory for the Food and Drug Administration is located at the White Oak Campus, and is comprised of two buildings, Building 52 and Building 72, that are physically connected, with a combined square footage of 430,000 square feet. The first building houses a floor for vivarium services, a mechanical penthouse, office spaces and BSL-2 laboratories. The second building contains a common mechanical space for both buildings, an incoming electrical power distribution switchgear for each building, a mechanical penthouse, office spaces, BSL-2 laboratories, a Clean Room and a BSL-3 lab suite area. This complex and detailed project required exceptional skills in commissioning management and troubleshooting as well as an extensive knowledge of a wide range of systems in a critical environment.
