James City County Fire Department Station #4

James City County, VA

Overview

The new building is approximately 14,400 SF with a three vehicle bay facility, living quarters for up to 12 individuals, offices, a fitness room, appartus bays, a hose tower, and space for training and storage. The construction process occurred with an expansion of the site, with fire operations taking place in the existing building while the new building was constructed on an expanded site footprint. This subsequently required the purchase of an adjoining property to accommodate the larger building and site restraints necessitated plans for retrofit of an off-site stormwater facility to treat stormwater from the expanded fire station impervious area. Commissioning was performed to meet LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning requirements per the U.S. Green Building Council, for the attainment of LEED Silver Certification.
