ACADEMIC REPAIRS AT NIMITZ LIBRARY

Annapolis, MD
Nimitz Library

Overview

Five Nines Company served as the lead commissioning firm for the interior renovation of the ground and first floors of Nimitz Library, an existing facility built in 1975 and named after Navy Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. The project included the relocation of the existing graphics lab to a more centrally located area, modernization of the bathrooms to include new family and lactation rooms, creation of a visually open study area that promotes collaborative learning and now looks out to the picturesque Upper Yard, reconfiguration of classroom and office spaces, and the removal of existing raised floors.

The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were upgraded to meet current energy efficient guidelines. The electrical system was also upgraded to allow students and visitors to use laptops and charging stations. Finally, the HVAC system was renovated to allow the system to meet the requirements necessary to maintain the special collections and archives, and multi-media graphics library.
